Hamilton Spec (no date) The last meeting of the season of the Girl Guides Local Association was held in Fairfield School, with 16 members present. Mrs. Jean McMillan, district commissioner, gave an interesting report on the annual council meeting at Oshawa. Mrs. E. Bullock represented the Local Association at the council and Mrs. Jean McMillan represented the district. It was announced that next fall a father and daughter banquet will be held in place of the mother and daughter banquet. Mrs. J. Scott reported that the Guides had expressed a desire to hold a hobby show, to display their handicrafts. This will be held some time in June. A report was given on the success of the recent Girl Guide and Brownie cookie day at which over 1,000 boxes of cookies were sold. More boxes have been ordered to fill orders received. It was pointed out that the Brownie packs and Guide Companies receive seven cents on each box of cookies sold, and thanks are extended to all who helped to make the sale so successful. Mrs. Bullock made an appeal for additional leaders, and announced that leaders training classes would be commenced soon. Hostesses were Mrs. J. Best and Mrs. J. ? Canadian National Exhibition - 1948 Miss Marion Stevenson was the guest of the President and Directors of the Canadian National Exhibition at luncheon on Monday. ANNUAL PARADE AT ALDERSHOT The annual church parade of the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts of Aldershot was held in East Plains Church, Aldershot Sunday, with Miss Florence DeGraaf, assistant Cubmaster of the 2nd Aldershot Cub Pack, in charge. Rev. E. A. Chester gave an inspiring address. A choir made up of Guides, Brownies, Cubs and Scouts from Maplehurst School under the direction of Miss I. McInnis took the place of the choir. Scripture readings were read by Elaine Scotchburn, 1st Aldershot Guides and George Evans, 2nd Aldershot Boy Scouts. Members of colour parties were Joyce Ellis, Lois Unsworth, Jacqueline Wilkinson, Donna White, Evelyn Taylor, Audrey Krebs, Peggy Bullock, Eva Filman, Shirley Hopkins, Joan Vollick, Donald Grant, Royce Stevenson, Hugh Windsor, Ernest Bottles, Ray Toomer, Billy Cummings, Johnny Todd, Peter Gayfer, George Evans, Jimmy Webber. After the service the Guides, Scouts, Brownies and Cubs paraded along the highway to Maplehurst
