ST. MATTHEW'S ANGLICAN CHURCH Sept. 22, 1951 DEDICATE GIFTS AT AT ANNIVERSARY OF ST. MATTHEW'S The Rt. Rev. L. W. B. Broughall, former Bishop of Niagara was the special preacher at the first of the services held last evening to commemorate the ninetieth anniversary of St. Matthew's Church. Bishop Broughall urged the members of the congregation to cherish their heritage as Canadians and as members of the Anglican Communion. There was great opportunity for witness in Aldershot, he said, and expressed the hope that he would see an extension of the church, or a new church, which would be adequate for the growth of the parish. Other clergy assisting the rector, Rev. C. S. Wright in the service, were Archdeacon G. F. Scoville, Rev. E. E. Lake and Rev. A. B. Higginson. Miss Marilyn Webber sang a solo in the anthem. Bishop Brougall dedicated two gifts to the church, a silver chalice given in memory of John William Atkins by his family, and a red burse, viel and missal markers to be used in the altar service on saints' days. Following the service, a reception was held in the parish hall, convened by the ladies of the Evening Guild.
