ST. MATTHEW'S ANGLICAN CHURCH April 7, 1952 PRESENT STUDENT AWARDS AT ALDERSHOT SERVICE At. St. Matthew's Anglican Church a special Palm Sunday family service was held at 9.45am at which all members of the Sunday School were presented with palms by the rector, The Rev. C. S. Wright. The Girl's Auxiliary and the Junior Auxiliary attended the group. Awards were presented to Janet Gallagher, Joyce Robins, Carol Langton and Valentine Wright, also to the following members of the Junior Auxiliary: Marjorie Nicholson, Carolyn Evans, Gail Ponting, Elaine Sutherland, Daphne Underhill and Catherine Wright. During Holy Week special services will be held in the church, on Wednesday Holy Communion will be held at 10am. and a devotional service at 7.30pm. Good Friday an ante-communion service will take place at 10am. At 6pm, the choir of St. Matthew's Church, Hamilton, will visit St. Matthew's-on-the-Plains and will sing the sacred cantata Olivet to Cavalry. This service is open to all the community, on Easter Sunday, Holy Communion will be at 8.30am. 9:45am and 11am. and an Evensong will be held at 7pm. Photo of: Interior View of Church ST. MATTHEW'S ANGLICAN CHURCH Mar. 24th. W. A. Meeting Mrs. R. S. Cutler presided at the meeting of the W. A. at St. Matthew's Church. Mrs. Joseph Weber gave the Bible reading. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. J. Mann. Mrs. W. Mitchell reported that the bale for the Dorcas room was nearly completed, this being accomplished at a much earlier date than usual. Mrs. W. Whitehouse displayed a quilt completed for the bale. Mrs. Gordon Gallagher gave a report on the first day of the Niagara Diocesan annual meeting. Mrs. C. S. Wright showed colored slides, and Mrs. W. Whittaker acted as narrator on the study book. The association will donate four aluminum serving trays which will be made by Mrs. W. Moore, to the parish kitchen. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Knife and Mrs. A. Thomas assisted by Mrs. W. Moore and Mrs. J. Nicholson. A. Y. P. A. [Anglican Young Peoples Association] A group of local young people gathered at St. Matthew's Church Tuesday evening for the purpose of organizing a local A. Y. P. A. [AYPA] Three members from the Beach A. Y. P. A., Herbert Johnson, Edward Kaiser and Robert Foster, were present and conducted the election of officers and explained the activities of such a group. Temporary officers named are: Chairman, George Coates; Secretary, Gloria Briggs. The W. I. [Women's Institute] Valentine party to be held on Monday evening will take place at Fairfield School auditorium.
