Conveners Report on Historical Research 1952 The committee on Historical Research have had an unusually busy year. To begin the year two of our members showed exhibits at the Waterdown Fall Fair in connection with the Historical work. Mrs. Norman Robertson arranged an exhibit of pioneer finery and treasures of the "Gay Nineties". Mrs. Lancefield displayed a collection of plates, books, and photographs on the Kings and Queens of England. The first meeting of the year was held at the home of Mrs. J. V. Emery. For Current Events the Roll Call was "A book I have enjoyed". Several books on Canadian History were recommended. In November our committee was asked to lend notes from the Tweedsmuir History Book, in connection with the Ninetieth Anniversary of St. Matthews Anglican Church who were publishing a book for this occasion. This aroused the interest of several pioneer families who have since helped us a great deal by submitting information for our own history book. Most amusing was our roll call "An old fashioned remedy" which included the following- Senna tea every Saturday morning whether needed or not. Hung around the neck were Chara bags of Asafoedatey and camphor. Sulphur and molasses, salts and lemon, and pink worm tablets followed the rest of the year. It might be of interest that over thirty-five of the older families in the community have been contacted and their family history obtained. Also all Clubs and Organizations. Crouchley Historical Research Committee 1954 The committee has been working through the year on the Tweedsmuir History Book and has it very near completion at this time. This has been a year of great interest to the committee, for the Coronation was the big history making event of the year, and then was followed by the Royal Tour of Australia. It has kept the committee busy watching the progress of the tour and has shown to us the great responsibility which lies on Their Majesties' shoulders. At one of the meetings, Mrs. Allen Lancefield gave a talk on the history of Aldershot which helped stir interest in the progress of the History Book. The committee
