December 1960 - Holy Rosary School Holds Annual Party - Children at Holy Rosary School had their annual Christmas party Dec. 29 arranged by Father B. J. Ryan and members of the Catholic Women's League. Joseph de Luca played Santa Claus distributing gifts to pupils in grade one, two and three. He also visited classrooms to give candy to those in the higher grades. Mrs. Ed Regan was convener for the C. W. L.. She was assisted by Mrs. E. Jordon, Mrs. Joseph Campbell, Mrs. Matthew Williams, Mrs. Lloyd Wills, Mrs. J. F. Lawlor, Mrs. Robert O'Brien, Mrs. Joseph Davis, Mrs. D. White, Miss Judy Slater and Bob and Jack Souci. Holy Rosary Ladies Celebrate Christmas. Members of Holy Rosary Catholic Women's League were received by Mrs. J. F. Lawlor, president at their Christmas party in the parish hall December seventh. Ryan with a cheque which represented the financial efforts of the C.W.L. during the year. Father Ryan then presented Mrs. J. F. Lawlor with a past-president's pin and a praver book in appreciation for her work in the League. The nominating committee of Mrs. Lawlor, Mrs. Regan and Mrs. S. Leskew then presented the new slate of officers of 1962-64: President. Mrs. W. A. Whelan; 1st vice-president. Mrs. E. A. Mortimer: 2nd vice-president. Mrs. Frank Zizzo; 3rd vice-president. Soucie, canvass chairman for the Mount Cenacle Retreat House campaign made a request for canvassers Father Ryan in his remarks to the members, congratulated the group on their maximum activity and charitable works and thanked the outgoing executive for their efforts during the past two years. Father Ryan then welcomed the new executive. Refreshments were served by St. Elizabeth's group: Mrs. J. Craig, Mrs. Walter Stead, Mrs. David White, Mrs. Joseph Leger, Mrs. Phil Sweeney, Mrs. Harry Blythe and Mrs. D. DiCenzo.
