New Aldershot Church to be Dedicated on SUNDAY Hamilton Spectator. June 9th 1962 Aldershot - The Rev. A. P. Lee of Calvary Church, Toronto, will be guest preacher at the formal dedication of the new Park Avenue Church, this Sunday at 3 p.m. The new church, designed by architect H. L. Hicks of London, Ontario, and built by Thurlow and Sanderson Ltd., of Aldershot, was erected at a cost in excess of $150,000. The one-floor structure covers 12,500 square feet, including a sanctuary which will seat 475. The old church has been incorporated into the new, and will be used for Sunday School classes and special services. Adjacent to the old church is a Christian education unit designed for multiple use. It has a high ceiling for use as a gymnasium and includes classrooms, kitchen and offices. The education unit and the sanctuary are separated by a unique open court which provides light for both sections. Along the back of the court are four classrooms for Sunday School use and on the street side, a walkway is fronted by windows of colored fibreglass. Sunday will be a proud day for the 130 member congregation which has been led by its energetic young pastor, the Rev. William Sift, since September 1953. For the first time in many years, all the congregational activities will be housed under one roof. The original church was built nine years ago by the late William Jackson. At that tine, the congregation was a prayer group of 40 members. The church is proud of its record in producing missionaries and theological students, all of whom are fully or partially supported by the congregation. Among these are Miss Ruth Lambshead of Nyasaland, Central Africa; Miss Ethel Parker of Brazil; Mrs. Fred Gould of Nigeria; Ted Lloyd of India; Mr. and Mrs. David Pollard of Kingston Bible College, N.S.; Morry Worozbyt, Ontario representative of the Christian Service Brigade; Mr. and Mrs. James Webber of Puerto Rico. At present Mr. and Mrs. Otto Koning are awaiting visas for Dutch New Guinea and Mr. and Mrs. John Koning are ready for the mission fields. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Bridle graduated this year from London College of Bible and Missions and Miss Arlene Rust graduated from Toronto Bible College. Mrs. Casper Koning is a graduate of Briercrest Bible
