ALDER5H0T PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Aldershot Presbyterian Church held a garden party at the home of Mrs. J. Frank Duff, Woodland Park Drive, on Saturday afternoon. Because of the cool weather, the guests were received in the drawing room by Mr. J. Frank Duff, Mrs. Wm. [William] Black and Mrs. D. D. McAlpine, association president. Large arrangements of blossoms adorned the rooms and small bouquets of yellow and white small flowers were placed casually throughout. The home bake and the flower tables were attractively set up in the spacious sunroom. Mesdames H. F. Robbins, Harry Stevens, A. M. Marshall, Ralph Mayers and J. W. French presided at the home bake and Mesdames Geo. [George] Head, J. C. Steele and Wray Livingston presided over the flowers. Dining-room colors were yellow and mauve. The tea table with its large white cut-work embroidered cloth was massed with a table center of tones of mauve sweet peas and pale yellow tulips. Silver appointments with yellow and mauve candles added a soft glow. Tea was poured by Mesdames Mary Waite, Grace Irvine, J. M. Greer and T. J. A. Fergusson and refreshments were served by Miss Eileen Ellis, Mrs. Roy Gow, and Mrs. E. Liddycoat. The following were in charge of the refreshments: Mesdames N. J. Lyster, Wm. [William] Fellowes, J. Baker, J. F. Spinks, Raymond Carter and Norman Dalgleish. Many strolled around the beautiful grounds and were given toasted marshmallows, served by Mr. J. F. Duff. A fish pond was enjoyed by the children in the lower garden and Misses Dianne Duff, Linda McAlpine and M. J. Dalgleigh presided. October 1960 Presbyterian Church Marks Anniversary Aldershot Presbyterian Church celebrates its sixth anniversary on October 16 with church services at 11 a.m. and 7.30 p. m. Members will recall the first service held in Glenview Public School six years ago, conducted by Rev. M. Bailey, of Southgate church. Since then, the congregation has been fully sanctioned and the church is independent of the support of the Board of Missions. To mark the anniversary, Rev. G. D. Johnston, M.B.E., D.D., of the Central Church in Brantford, will visit the church. Dr. Johnston, one of the oustanding preachers of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, gained his M.B.E. for distinguished service as a padre in the Armed Forces. Until recently, he was chairman of the Board of Missions, where he became acquainted with the Presbyterian Church in Canada from coast to coast. The choir will present a special program as part of the celebrations. Following the evening service a reception will be held to meet Dr. Johnston. At that time, members recently received into the fellowship will be welcomed. Former members will be given a specially warm welcome.
