... for forty-two years. To Mr. F. Duff there has fallen the large amount of work which is ever carried with the building of a new church and this he has done with grace and efficiency. And so the work grows and glows. As present minister of the congregation I was appointed in March, 1955. The first few weeks were testing and it would be dishonest, if it was not admitted, that sometimes I wondered whether I had been wise to come to this new charge. But after six months had rolled past, there was a new spirit abroad. New members were coming in. New fires were being kindled. But the biggest wave of enthusiasm came when it was resolved to build our new church. It was like the opening of a new day and since, there has been no weakening of desire. We owe a great debt of thanks to the school authorities for all the comfort of Glenview School and we will say farewell with thanksgiving - that within those walls the vision was given to make it possible to build. We stand by the grace of God in No. 1 place in the Presbytery for our per capita givings. We can go no higher in placing but we can and we must go higher in spiritual power. It would be wrong if I sought to single out any of my wonderful people for special mention. You have given your minister so much in the way of helpfulness and encouragement, that when the complete story comes to be written in Heaven, you will have a place in the Master's heart. And none could want more than that. Others are reporting for other aspects of the work and when ail bound together, it will make reading that stimulates faith, and makes Jesus Christ the centre of it all. With a great text this letter commenced and with a great text it "This is the Lord's doing and it is marvellous in our eyes". Matthew 21: 42. Yours because His, WM. [William] BLACK. SESSION REPORT The Place of Worship, the House of God, the Sanctuary, Our Church. But this stately edifice, this building which is to become our Church Home is not the Church. The Aldershot Presbyterian Church is the group of people associated for the worship of His Name, who have been instrumental in erecting this place of Worship and the Church of God is that wider circle of Christians throughout the world who own him as Saviour and Lord. This building was erected upon and round about a corner stone declared to have been well and truly laid, by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, Dr. Finlay Stewart, who performed the official act of mortaring the joints and guiding the lowering of the stone into position. And it is inscribed thereon "To the Glory of God, 1957" and it has been by many prayers and by His great goodness and wonderful guidance, that we have attained the success and accomplishment of completion of this glorious Sanctuary of Worship which we behold today. This is but the beginning. Yet it is not really the beginning. It was conceived by some zealous Christians of our Presbyterian denomination resident in this area who banded together to become the Charter Members of this Aldershot Congregation, assisted by some consecrated stalwarts of the Church from established congregations in the Hamilton Presbytery. The Official record declares them to be those who were the first nucleus of membership, together with those who joined at the next following Communion. They are named in the Session records as follows: First Communion Roll, January 10, 1954: Mr. Herbert Allen, Mrs. H. Allen, Miss Isobel Barclay, Mr. Samuel Gillespie, Mrs. S.
