Clipping, May 19, 1954 Annual Meeting Of Association Well Attended Aldershot, May 10 H. Penman Smith was returned to office as president of the Glenview Home and School Association, at the annual meeting held in the school auditorium. About 50 parents and teachers were present. Mr. Smith reported on the successful year just concluded by the association, and in thanking the teachers, executive and parents for their co-operation, said, "we have achieved our great object - to interest all people in all children, and to link in common purpose the home, the school and other educational forces in the life of the child, to work for his highest good." N. R. Dalgleish, principal of Glenview School gave the report of the nominating committee and the following slate of officers was accepted for 1954-55: Mrs. L. F. Burrows and Bruce Minns, vice-presidents: Mrs. W. G. Gayfer, recording secretary: Mrs. Howard Poole, corresponding secretary: Mrs. D. W. James, treasurer; Mrs. J. Sutherland, Mrs. Hector Smith, Mrs. William Knight, Mrs. William Burrows and Mrs. L. G. Keeler, executive members, Mrs. Roy Smale, president of the Maplehurst Home and School Association conducted the installation of officers. The attendance plaque was won jointly by Mrs. Helen Green's and H. Windsor's classes. Graduation Dinner Plans were made to sponsor a graduation dinner for the Grade Eight class at the Brant Inn, followed by the presentation of graduation pins and a square dance in the school auditorium. Two films on gardening were shown and a sale of plants, contributed by the parents from their gardens, was held. Refreshments were served under the convenership of Mrs. Allan Hewson. The Catholic Women's League of Holy Rosary parish met in Rosary Hall with the president. Mrs. W. A. Whelan presiding and 35 members present. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. J. J. Gray. Mrs. Fred Catena thanked all those who helped.
