SCHOOL NEWS January 31, 1951. Aldershot School ALDERSHOT SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES HEAVY BUDGET At a special meeting the .Aldershot School Board approved a budget for 1952 calling for a total expenditure of $72,680 as compared with $36,678 last year. Debenture payments on the new Glenview School account for $21,000 of the increase while salaries at the new school for the last four months of the current year are estimated at $15,375. Total estimated salary payments for all three schools are $54,520. Trustee H. A. Gilmore advocated that one of the three principals be appointed in a supervisory capacity to standardize methods of education, extra curricular activities and supplies in the three schools. At the request of the chairman this matter was held over until the next meeting for further study. A communication from the inspector J. K. Evans drew attention to the fact that the new survey now being developed by J. Cooke would greatly increase the potential enrollment in Aldershot schools and urged that a plan be formulated to take care of this increase. Members agreed that the best solution would be an addition to Glenview and it was not necessary to secure more school land at the present time. The board planned to meet next week with the architect, George T. Evans to study the final plans for new boys' washroom facilities at Maplehurst School and to decide on lighting fixtures for the new school. SCHOOL NEWS October, 1951.
