Bowling News Burlington Gazette, May 10th, 1962 Local Bowling Champions Out-bowling thirty-eight others to become winners of the two-day Doubles Championship, second event in the 10th annual Lawn Bowls tournament of the Pinehurst Country Club were Mr. and Mrs. John M. Bush of Burlington, Ont., with a score of 50 points; while four-game runners-up at 48 points were A. L. Whitten and W. M. Philpott, of Toronto, 0nt. Burlington teams taking both places in the three-game division, Mr. and Mrs. K. L. Morris, were tops with 59 plus four points; while Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Ashcroft were runners-up at 54. The Florida duo of M. B. Galt, St. Petersburg, and Irving Kimball, Clearwater, were two-game winners at plus six points; with another Canadian pair, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Curran of Grimsby, Ontario, taking one-game honors at 51 points. In the Trebles concluding event with thirty entries, Mr. and Mrs. Ashcroft teamed with J. H. Newby, also of Burlington to take the championship at 35 plus three points. Two-game winners were Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Erckert of Kenmore, N.Y. and Mrs. Arthur Hauenstein of Buffalo, N.Y., 34 plus five points; and runners-up were Mr. and Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Newby, 31 points; while Galt joined Floridians Doug McCorquodale, St. Petersburg, and Eddie Dennison, Clearwater, as one-game winners at 28 points.
