Bidwell Photo ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ALDERSHOT COMMUNITY COUNCIL 1951 This is the first opportunity that I have had to address the general membership of the council. I wish to thank everyone for the manner in which our efforts were received and the splendid spirit of co-operation of the members of the community in assisting in the various projects when called upon to do so. As this was our first attempt in this nature and more or less experimental, these projects could not have succeeded without the splendid co-operation of the members of the executive, who have been untiring in their efforts and time. At this time I would like to give credit and sincere thanks to the following people and companies: Mr. George Westbrook - Our energetic first vice-president who unfortunately due to pressure of business finds it necessary to step down this year. Mr. Westbrook was chairman of the Traffic and Safety committee and was responsible for having the lines painted on the highway at all school crossings, and the promise of manually operated lights for these schools. He was also chairman of the Halloween Party and we all know the efficient manner in which this was carried out. Maplehurst Home & School Association - For their generous donation of funds and the cheerfullness and co-operation which made this project an outstanding success. Mr. & Mrs. Pete Smith- For their generous donation of apples. The Halliday Co. - Who through Mr. Gordon Richardson, an executive member, have been very generous in the use of their public address system and the letters in which we first made our intentions known to the people in the district.
