Area News Aldershot Property Owners to Hold Public Discussion on Annexation - At a meeting of the directors of the Aldershot Property Owners' Association held in Glenview School on Thursday of last week, final endorsement of arrangements for a public meeting to be held in Glenview School auditorium on Tuesday, November 12th, were made. Following discussion on annexation the directors decided on a panel of five members to give an informative talk on five phases of amalgamation. Subjects during the panel will be Municipal Government, Public Utilities, Board of Education, Fire and Police,Planning and Assessment. A motion was also passed that a letter be sent to the various clubs and service organizations in the Aldershot area to remind them of the importance of election day on December 2nd. "Our duty in this matter is very clear" stated president Stuart Cline," and if necessary the directors should make themselves available to any club in the district to speak on this matter". Mr. Lorimer Rutty, chairman of membership, announced that the initial response to the membership drive had been gratifying. Some 300 memberships have been received to date with approximately twenty to thirty coming each week. Following discussion of the panel members for the public meeting the directors expressed the fact that potential candidates should be introduced. The problem of public discussion over the Brant Park site for the proposed Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital raised conflicting thoughts among the directors. To endeavour to clarify the present situation Mr. Fred Smith was appointed to represent the association to all public meetings of the Hospital Association and also the Citizens' Committee. Reports on the current hospital situation will be brought back to the executive.
