Appreciation Night Held By Lions Club November 1960 Tuesday was appreciation night for Aldershot Lions' Bantam League with the boys, their fathers and coaches as guests of honor at the meeting at Willowbank. Reg. Bullock presided with Albert Tuck and Bill Grainger arranging the evening. The club trophy went to the Giants coached by Jack Hilton and Albert Tuck with Mr. Bullock making the presentation to Bill Graydon, team captain. Larry Hughes of the Giants won the Morrow Trophy being voted the most valuable and sportsmanlike player in the league. Len Chapman, convener of the O.A.S.A. in Aldershot made the presentation. Team Pictures - Mr. Bullock also gave team pictures to the boys and thanked Leo Couture. Smythe Rutherford, Ken Bush, Jack Hilton, Bill Grainger, Ralph Shonk, Andy Marr, Ken ? and Grayson Laidlaw for their work as coaches. Regret at the departure of Al Chapman for Belleville was expressed by Mr. Bullock who announced that a stag would be held in his honor next Monday. Brad Roberts will replace Mr. Chapman as secretary and Ken White will be the new tail twister. Albert Tuck was appointed club representative on the service club committee investigating establishment of a YMCA in Burlington. Convention Committee Andy Marr was chosen to represent the club on Hamilton Central Lions Club convention committee which will be host to the 1960 District A convention. The Aldershot club entertained the 11 clubs in Zone Six at the first advisory meeting of the season at the Willowbank September 21. Special guests were Jack Vicary of Niagara Falls, governor; George Archibald, Hamilton, deputy governor; Russ Vickers. Burlington, International councillor. Grayson Laidlaw, zone chairman, was in charge of the meeting assisted by Mr. Bullock and Mr. Roberts. October 17 will be membership night when members are asked to bring guests.
