HOLY SEPULCHRE CEMETERY at Aldershot was purchased in 1874 on September 28th, from William Russell of Dundas. In 1914 more land was added; purchased from Mr. Scheer and again in 1946 additional land was acquired from Mrs. McLeod. A Memorial Chapel was built in 1889 under direction of the Rt. Rev. T. L. Dowling, Bishop of Hamilton. Holy Sepulchre Chapel was used as a church by the Roman Catholic parish in Aidershot during the years preceding the building of the new church on Plains Road West. Dowling, Bishop of Hamilton, for whom it is a memorial. EAST PLAINS CEMETERY The land for the East Plains Cemetery was donated by Joseph Lyons in the year 1843 and is located directly behind the present church. Burials are still taking place in this cemetery.
