Historical Convenor's Report to the Annual Meeting, April 1962. Aldershot Women's Institute, Tweedsmuir History Group. Mrs. Harry Stevenson, Convenor We have been working on our book as a group for two years now and are pleased to report considerable advancement both in securing material and assembling same. A great deal of interest is being taken in our project by groups outside our immediate boundary and we have been invited to show it and explain or give a talk on its contents. In Nov. 1961 we held a movie night when a local resident, Mr. Wm. [William] Hayward, showed "Views of the Klondike" taken when he was a member of the R.C.M.P. [RCMP] Force. The proceeds, about $517.00 was used to pay for photostatic copies of Deeds, Photos etc. On Feb. 26, 1962 we were invited to Hamilton "Collectors Club" to take part in their programme. Mar. 28th we went to the Burlington Historical Society meeting. Seven members took part in this programme, each sketching the area of their talk on an outline map showing the Bay shore and Plains Road sections of our area "Aldershot". Again on April 4th we were invited by Waterdown Women's Institute to show our book and tell them how we went about obtaining information, pictures etc. Eight or nine meetings were held at the home of Mrs. Harry Stevenson with an average attendance of eight ladies present, two doing typing, one printing captions, and others pasting on pictures and preparing pages. We will continue with the present book for this year, when we feel a new one should be started as this one is getting too thick and bulky. We have also gathered considerable material for another book to contain items since amalgamation with Burlington in 1958. My sincere thanks to all our members for their help and encouragement. Respectfully submitted by Margaret Stevenson, Tweedsmuir History Convenor.
