The plans intent ts to establish the overarchîng vision, goals and directions the Town will consider when makîng decisions. Ward 3 Councillor Cindy Lunau argued that credît should be gîven to every citizen who parîicîpated, notîng o i would be difficuli to assign credit to the ideas in the plan. Nîck McDonald of Merîdian Planning Consultants Int., which helped the Town prepare tht plan, said Desîiny Milton 2 is a product of collab- oration and that dozens of residents gave feedback. He also hîghligbted bow counicillors worked together and brainstormed to conînhbute to tht final product. In response to Beyette's "planning 101" commenîs, McDonald saîd wbîle there may be some general themes in Desîiny Milton 2, there are also others that aie very unique t0 Milton. The next sîeps in the Destiny Milton process are 10 create service area master plans, which will provide direction for the initiatives identified in the surieî plan, and an implementation plan. The pilot cornes about a year after a group of local residents - now known as Residenis for Off-Leash Opportunities, or ROLO - petitioned the Town for a dog park. ROLO will be responsible for fundraising for the parks ongoing developinent and operation aiîd îsicking up garbagc ai the site. Meanwbîle, the Town will design the park and provide the land and initial funding lot îhings lîke fencîng and park furniture. Staff îs also in tht process o[ co-ordinatîng tht creation of a temporary parking area that could accommodate 12 vehicles. Council approved an ameodment to the 2006 budget t0 provide $50,000 for tht initial devel- opment of the park. A public information session will scion bc held on tht leash-[ree initiative.
