Police offered no comment on gory video The second man accused of murdering Tim Bosma shares the name of "The killer" in a disturbing and gory low-budget music video posted on YouTube. Mark Smich, 25, of Oakville was charged with first-degree murder Thursday morning. At a media conference Wednesday afternoon, Hamilton Police Superintendent Dan Kinsella said Smich and Dellen Millard -- also charged with first-degree murder in connection with Bosma's death -- do know each other, but he would not say how. An undated photo retrieved from Facebook shows Millard and a vintage blue Chevy Nova parked in Smich's Oakville driveway on Montrose Abbey Drive. A YouTube video, titled GHOZTED 2012 FT. MARK.SMICH (FREEUP) (OFFICIAL VIDEO), had comments referencing Bosma's murder Wednesday, using the hashtag #FREEMARKSMICH. The video -- produced by Dolo Productions and described as horror art -- shows a man appearing to butcher a bloody body in a dimly-lit room covered in plastic. A man in the video bears resemblance to the man arrested by Hamilton police. The disturbing video lists someone named Mark S. in the credits as "The killer," but that was changed within hours of the news conference. Soon after, the video was deleted entirely. A Twitter account linked to Dolo Productions did not respond to interview requests Wednesday evening. The account was deleted a short time later. Police spokesperson Catherine Martin said Wednesday, police were aware of the video's existence, but could not comment. The detective in charge of the case could not be reached for comment. Kinsella said Smich is known to police, but he would not elaborate. A man with the same name and age was arrested on a graffiti charge in Oakville late last year. Smich was arrested on foot Wednesday morning on Dorval Drive in Oakville just after 10 a.m., one hour before a memorial service for the slain Ancaster man began in Hamilton. Neighbour Stephania Capeloa, who lives across the street, said she saw a 10-person tactical team barge through the front door of Smich's home. Capeloa said officers used what looked like tear gas. While she didn't know Smich personally, she said, "The house always had people out on the front porch." Fanny Colin, another neighbour, told the Oakville Beaver her son-in-law has had trouble with the neighbours. At the Smich home, a woman who'd sat in a van used by investigators emerged and rushed into the house. She did not answer the door to media. Phone calls to the home were not answered. Smich's father, Andrew Smich, who does not live with his son, told the Toronto Star he only learned of his arrest through media reports and hasn't had contact with him recently. "I'm sorry I cannot say anything," he said. Police are still looking for one more person who was driving Millard's dark blue Yukon SUV , trailing Bosma's pickup on the night he went missing. On May 6, two men -- believed by police to be Millard and Smich -- showed up at Bosma's rural Ancaster home to go for a test drive in his 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck he'd been trying to sell online. The three pulled out of Bosma's Trinity Road driveway around 9:30 p.m., with the Yukon trailing behind. They did not return. For eight days, friends and family aided police in a massive search for the missing man. Police believe he was killed shortly after the three drove off, his body was taken to a location in Waterloo and burned beyond recognition. In the wake of Smich's arrest, Kinsella told the media, "We believe the danger to the public has been arrested, and we believe the danger to the public has subsided as it relates to this case." In addition to Bosma's death, Toronto homicide detectives are now investigating whether Millard played a role in the death of his father, Wayne, last December. Wayne Millard was reportedly found with a gunshot wound to the left side of his head. Police are also exploring possible links between Millard and his former girlfriend, who disappeared last year. Laura Babcock, 23, of Toronto was last seen in early July. She also went by the name Elle Ryan. From the beginning, police have said Bosma's truck was the target of this crime -- and the seemingly random murder has shaken an entire community. Close to 1,800 people came out for a memorial service held for Bosma Wednesday at Carmen's banquet hall on the east Mountain, where he and his wife Sharlene held their wedding reception just three years ago. Friends, family and even strangers crammed into the packed hall to pay their respects. Media filled the parking lot, broadcasting the service to thousands more people across the country who have been touched and heartbroken by Bosma's story over the past three weeks. More than 1,000 voices filled the big hall with song and prayer, as a number of Tim's closest family members shared stories of their beloved "Uncle Timmy." "I know that he is no longer my Tim," his wife, Sharlene said -- with fewer tears this time, as she joked about her average-guy of a husband. "He has become Our Tim. He is now in the hearts of minds of thousands, and will be remembered by so many." -- The Hamilton Spectator, with files from Justin Robertson, the Oakville Beaver and Toronto Star 9 | Friday, May 24, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Protect your family.
