Duncan Currie (R) of Salvation Army, resident of Dunnville, ON, (formerly of Oakville, ON) was Promoted to Glory at Manitoulin Health Centre in his 83rd year on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 after a sudden stroke. Predeceased by his brother John of Scotland, and his first wife Capt. Elizabeth (Betty) Currie (Nee: Gilfillan) in 1992. Duncan is survived by his second wife Muriel, and his daughters Alison Currie (Keith Grehan) of Hamilton, ON/UAE and Morag Currie (John Herbert) of Oakville, ON and his niece Elizabeth (Liz) Rea (Nee: Currie) (Jim) of Scotland. Duncan is fondly remembered by extended family and friends. An active member of the Dunnville community, Duncan served as Family Services Officer for eight years. While on the Dunnville Library Board, Duncan was also a representative on the Southern Ontario Library Board. He participated as a member of the Non Profit Housing Authority and helped found the Rotary Club of Dunnville. As a member of Grace United Church, Duncan also served as Chaplain of Edgewater Gardens for a number of years and much enjoyed the fellowship as a member of the church choir and the men's fellowship group. A funeral service for Duncan was performed at Grace United Church, Dunnville, on Monday, May 27, 2013, Interment Maple Lawn Cemetery (Wainfleet, ON). In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation, Friends of the Dunnville Library or a charity of your choice would greatly be appreciated by the family.
