I Foiled again while seeking rest and relaxation on long weekend That's Life Andy Juniper Guest Contributor 7 | Thursday, May 23, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com 'm not saying my wife has gone crazy. No, wait, that's exactly what I'm saying. And I'm surely not suggesting that she's trying to do me in. No, wait, that's precisely what I'm suggesting. Perhaps I should just offer up the evidence, dear readers, and let you decide. It was a bodacious long weekend. Three beautiful days. Wonderful weather that was perfect for getting outside and whipping the property into shape, for drinks on the deck and barbecuing, and for a quick, cowardly dip in the pool (contrary to media reports, it wasn't the tremors of an earthquake you felt on the weekend, it was my teeth chattering). Also, according to my wife, the weather was ideal for "a leisurely bike ride." Yep. That's how she sold the cycle, by intimating that it would be leisurely -- be- cause it was Saturday, at the end of an already epic and exhausting day of fresh air and activity. "Short and sweet," she said, because she was acutely aware that I was in no mood for long and sweaty. So, off we went. We came to a fork in the road, a place where we normally zig. Well, my wife suggested, let's zag. Initially, this new route was glorious. We road and road, carefree mile after carefree mile, awed by how effortless it all seemed on this freshly paved road, until I nally glanced at my watch and realized just how long we'd been biking. I convinced my wife to turn back. Alas, whereas we had been riding like the wind, we were now riding against the wind. Big difference. Now, I don't want to exaggerate, but this wind was gale-force. I mean, I was peddling as fast as my hurting hamstrings, crying calves and already-numb thighs could peddle and I was being blown backward. I began to weep and say mental goodbyes to everyone and everything I loved back home, certain I would never again see the place. I know what you're thinking, dear readers, and you're right: I did indeed wake up Sunday so stiff and sore I could barely move and, yes, I also thought that we would surely take Sunday off all physical activity. see Dreaming on p.11 Surround yourself with natural beauty & experience www.kaneffgolf.com Lionhead G&CC Brampton Royal Ontario GC Milton For more information, please contact: herbert@kaneffgolf.com (289) 795-0426 PRE-SEASON FIBERGLASS POOL SALE!!!! 12' X23' ROMAN POOL $ YOUR CHOICE INSTALLED* 24,995 12' X23' KIDNEY POOL MANY MORE SIZES AND SHAPES AVAILABLE FREE INSTALLATION ABOVE GROUND POOL/SWIM SPA SALE ABOVE GROUND POOLS 15' ROUND $2299 · 18' ROUND $2499 12' X 20' OVAL $3499 15' X 25' OVAL $3999 INSTALLED* 2012 MODEL HOT TUBS CLEARANCE FROM $1,999 SWIM SPAS FROM $15,999 INSTALLED* FACTORY DIRECT VINYL LINER SALE REPLACE YOUR OLD LINER AND 12'X24' 14'X28' 16'X32' 18'X36' 20'X40' SAVE BIG!! $ $ Visit Our Showroom! 504 IROQUOIS SHORE RD UNIT #1, OAKVILLE, ONTARIO L6H 3K4 999 1099 $ 1299 $ 1499 $ 1799 905.815.5252 *Restrictions apply chek in-store for details.
