The D-Day Invasion on the beaches of Normandy, France took place June 6, 1944. It marked the beginning of the end of the Second World War as Allies took heavy losses as they began to march into Nazi-occupied Europe. The Bronte ensemble gathered at the Jones Street Legion and marched behind parade commander Mike Vencel (above) to the Bronte Cenotaph on Lakeshore Road West, just west of Bronte Road. Below, Sub.
