"Come join us, it is the party of the summer," said Bronte Village BIA executive director Ann Sargent. The free, July 1 celebration that culminates with the blasting of fireworks, will be at Bronte's Heritage Waterfront Park, on Bronte Road, south of Lakeshore Road. It is put on by more than 200 business merchants of the BIA and will welcome approximately 50,000 visitors. "For many, coming to Canada Day is an annual tradition," Sargent said. "We are privileged to live in such a magnificent part of Oakville -- the park, pier, beach, trails, boardwalk, it's magic. It is an open, accessible, clean, safe family event with no admission, except a nominal fee for some of the KidZone activities. We have lots of free activities for the kiddies including the RBC Monster Mural and active games on the grass." The festivities run from 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. There will be two stages for live music performances. The Bronte Harbour Stage will provide entertainment from 11:30 a.m. until the start of the fireworks, while the Cogeco Community Stage will feature local talent and community performances from noon-6 p.m. "We have a diverse range of music from the summer Beach Boys vibe at our new Tropical Fireworks at the 2012 Canada Day celebration in Bronte.
