Frank Lochan pledges to give $1M to Oakville hospital Local philanthropist Frank Lochan has pledged to donate $1 million to the new Oakville hospital campaign. "I support our hospital because it is the organization in this community that we all need," said Lochan, in a news release. "This brand new facility will cater to our growing community and will provide the kind of health-care services that are urgently needed." Lochan has been a long-time volunteer and supporter of Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. He has served on the board of the Oakville Hospital Foundation for seven years and was chair from 2009-11. He is particularly supportive about programs that support patients struggling with mental health. In recognition of his donation, the hospital will name the Communication Centre in the Emergency Observation Unit and the Adult Mental Health Outpatient Centre after the Lochan family. The Adult Mental Health Outpatient Centre in the new hospital will provide assessment, treatment recommendations and options without the need for a hospital stay. It will be a compilation of several clinics, which Frank Lochan includes community support, medication clinics, concurrent disorders program, geriatric services and a day hospital program. Lochan and his wife Azniv have already established an endowed fund at the Oakville Community Foundation, which provides funds annually to purchase equipment for the hospital, currently and in perpetuity. Lochan is a member of the hospital foundation's Loyal Friends Society, having given a gift to the foundation each year for the past 13 years. He and his family are recognized for that support on the hospital donor wall in the humanitarian category, which represents cumulative giving of $1 million-$2 million. "Frank's contributions to our hospital go well beyond his philanthropic support," said Tina Triano, CEO of the Oakville Hospital Foundation, in the release. "His work on our foundation board helped us develop an enhanced governance model and expand our programs to ensure the long-term sustainability of our volunteer base well into the future. He has been a steadfast supporter of our hospital and has made a significant impact in how healthcare is delivered here in Oakville." 15 | Friday, June 7, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com The Regional Municipality of Halton PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE Public Information Centre Halton Region is preparing a set of guidelines to aid in the implementation of address a wide range of policies and are organized into four categories: agricultural/ rural, infrastructure, health and resource.
