"We see each other at drop off and pick up, so the moms know each other quite well," Baring said. Many of the women agreed and each contributed $10 to pay for the meal. Suspicious strangers approach two children Halton police are asking parents to review personal safety with their children after two men approached a boy and girl under age 13 in Oakville recently. On Friday, June 28 at 8 p.m., a dark green van tried to block a boy riding his bike on West Oak Trails and Fourth Line. The driver, who had a long white beard and long blond hair, motioned for the boy to approach, but the boy rode off. The man was 35-45 years old -- as was as his male passenger who had a short goatee and long hair. On Tuesday, July 2 at 9 p.m., a white van approached a girl on West Oak Trails and Calloway Drive. The driver, who had a short goatee, offered her candy for directions. A male passenger had a long white beard. The girl ran for help at a nearby business. The men were 40-50 years old. Police remind parents to review stranger danger safety with their children and that youths should never go anywhere with a stranger or accept rides for any reason. Children should also tell parents their whereabouts at all times and immediately report suspicious strangers to an adult. Street-proofing information is at www.haltonpolice.ca.
