On Tuesday, the Town reported all Town of Oakville, Halton District School Board and Halton Catholic District School Board grass sports fields were closed due to the excessive rainfall. The Town noted all-weather turf fields were open for permitted bookings. Many Oakville residences also lost power as part of a much broader interruption, which spread across most of the GTA. Oakville Hydro Communications Specialist Cassandra Umbriaco said with the intense Weather closes playing fields storms that swept through the GTA, Hydro One experienced major flooding at one of its transmission facilities, which provides power to Oakville and Mississauga. Around 6:15 p.m., Monday, 14,200 Oakville households lost power in the area bounded by the QEW , Lake Ontario, Winston Churchill Boulevard and Morden Road. At the height of the outage, customers in the area bounded by Burnhamthorpe Road, the QEW , Trafalgar Road and Neyagawa Boulevard were also affected.
