Board Announcements Lillian H. Parsons Bursary Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) is pleased to announce the election of Judy Wilson and Lorenzo Biondi as Chair and Vice-Chair respectively to the HHS Board of Directors. Judy Wilson, Board Chair Judy joined the Board in 2007 and most recently served as Vice-Chair from 2011 to 2013. She now assumes a two-year term as Board Chair, replacing John Fleming who completed his term in June 2013 and remains on the Board as Past Chair. Judy is a partner with the firm Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. As a lawyer and former senior manager with extensive experience in the health and municipal sectors, and with infrastructure and public procurement processes, Judy has been engaged in a number of projects with respect to the design, construction and operation, including alternate financing, of hospitals and other public facilities in Ontario. Judy has been an advisor to several levels of government and public sector entities on legislative and policy issues. She was recently named the Public Procurement Lawyer of the Year by Who's Who Legal. Established in 1987, in recognition of Lillian H. (Joy) Parsons' 36 years as Executive Director of Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH), this fund provides annual bursaries to assist children of OTMH staff with their post-secondary education. The bursary is funded through donations to the Lillian H. Parsons Bursary Fund This year's recipients were: ViennaBassan, Julian Bonanno, Kaitlyn Bowers, Nicole Buda, Ovlier Dooley, Taryn Gentle, Kelly Komac, Siva Aswini Kumaravelu, Annie Laskaris, Matthew Lozinski, Madison MacKellar, Neena Salifu, and Andrea Vanderlaan. Lorenzo Biondi, Vice-Chair Lorenzo is a Chartered Director and has been a Board member since June 2007. Lorenzo is a senior executive and licensed pharmacist with 24 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He currently holds the position of Vice President of Medical and Regulatory Affairs at Hoffmann La-Roche Limited. Lorenzo has experience in the integration and alignment of businesses following mergers and acquisitions and has broad based knowledge of regulations, practices and policies that govern the quality of products, drug safety, clinical studies, advertising and industry healthcare professional interactions. He was also the past Chair of the Quality & Risk Management Committee at HHS. Oakville Hospital Volunteer Association Bursary The Oakville Hospital Volunteer Association (OHVA) presented its Isobel Winnett Bursary, named in memory of one of the Association's founders and longest-serving volunteer, Mrs. Isobel Winnett who passed away in 2009 at the age of 96. The recipient of this award demonstrates Mrs. Winnett's qualities of dedication, commitment, loyalty and generous spirit. Dr. E.P. "Soapy" Soanes Award The Dr. E.P. "Soapy" Soanes Award was established in recognition of the first Chief of Staff and longstanding member of the Department of Family Medicine at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). The award is presented to a Family Physician at OTMH who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the Hospital and community in the areas of clinical practice, community health, hospital programs, continuing medical education and community involvement. HHS Values Inspired Performer Award The Halton Healthcare Services Values Inspired Performer (VIP) Award, established in 2013, recognizes and honours employees, physicians and midwives from across our organization who are highly regarded for their outstanding demonstration of the HHS core values.
