Predeceased by her husband Edwin Court. Cherished mother of Rick and Sharon, Jim and Nilza, and Cathy and Ian. Will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Linda and Adam, Jason and Sandi, Christie and Ryan, Michael and Stephanie, Jennifer, Brittany and Nicole. Special great-grandmother to Tyler, Owen and Julian. Lorry was a lifetime member of the Bronte Legion 486 Ladies Auxiliary. Predeceased by his parents, Willis and Lillian, and his sister Mary-Ann. Survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Minna, by sons Tom (Karen) and Peter (Lisa) and by his cherished grandchildren Caleb (Megan), Jacob, Gareth, Brian and Emily. Lyn passed away unexpectedly in Oakville a few days after his 94th birthday. Adored father of Susan Davies (Tom Kelly), Ottawa, Linda (Jeff Cranford), St. Catharines and Cathie Davies (Barry Little), Markham. Caring stepfather of Marilyn Gray (Sandell) (Helmut Kaatz) and Robert Sandell, Oakville. Much loved grandfather to Lee (Brian Rand), Oakville, Jamie Cranford (Megan McMurray), Toronto and Andy Cranford (Beth Konecki), Ottawa. Wonderful great-grandfather to Eric Rand (Jenelle Labranche) and Brandon Rand, Oakville. Lyn will be missed by his younger brother Dr. Hugh Davies (Margaret), Lindsay, and his nieces and nephews from the Davies, Smith and Wilcox families and his special friend Melba Haight. Warmly remembered by his many friends at St. John's United Church, Oakville Golf Club, Probus Club of Old Oakville, Track 3 Skiing, Oakville Curling Club and Churchill Place. Predeceased by parents Thomas Edward and Beatrice Corrienne Davies (nee Harrison), first wife Margaret Ruth (nee Smith) in 1966, and second wife Mary Georgia (Sandell) (nee Wilcox) on March 15, 2013, and sister Beryl Pickersgill (Peter). Born in Humberstone, Lyn joined the R.A.F. in July 1939. He flew many types of airplanes as a Flying Officer. The 79 Lynton Davies Air Cadet Squadron Port Colborne was formed in his honour January 1942. He was a Test Pilot for Fleet Aircraft and De Havilland Canada while attending U of Toronto Aeronautical Engineering. After working at the National Research Council, he studied in Zurich at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Lyn worked on turbine engine design with Canada's Avro Arrow Project. He was employed in Canada's aircraft industry for most of his career. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (905-844-2600) from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2013. A service to be held at St. John's United Church, 262 Randall Street, Oakville on Thursday, at 1 pm on August 8, 2013, with a church reception to follow. Condolences through www.koprivataylor.com REITER, John Michael October 27, 1938 - July 28, 2013 John left us at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital after a strong fight with ALS. He left a legacy of strength, determination and positive goodwill. He is survived by his loving wife Pirkko, and his two sons Michael and Matthew and Matthew's wife Jodi, and his grandchildren Timothy, Melanie, Jack and Sam. All of the family love John dearly and will miss him. Also remembered by friends and relatives in Canada and Finland. Condolences through www.koprivataylor.com BELBIN, Hedley Robert Passed away peacefully at his home in Oakville on July 26 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Chelsea, Newfoundland on December 9, 1917 on a sea battered cliff on the North Atlantic, the youngest boy in a family of five boys and seven girls. At the age of ten he left school to do a man's work hunting, fishing, chopping wood, and building boats, barrels and houses. When World War II offered the first opportunity for cash wages he went to St. John's to work as a carpenter, sending every dollar he earned back to his family. In 1953 he moved his family from the outport so he could earn a living where his family lived, leaving behind forever the place where for two centuries his ancestors had lived and fished. He endured two more forced migrations before settling in Oakville in 1979 where he lived until his death. He was a loving husband to Ida for 59 years until her death in 2001. He leaves behind four children; Eleanor Thomas (Ed), Evelyn Schilling (Jack dec.), Daphne Tumlin (Ron), Calvin Belbin (Bev); Seven grandchildren, Calvin Belbin Jr. (Anne), Gail Labelle (Jay), Geoffrey Tumlin (Cindi), Gregory Thomas-Tench (Lisa), Karen Tumlin (Justin), Stephen Belbin, Shawn Belbin (Stacey); eight great grandchildren, Samantha and Mitchell Belbin, Cody and Josh Labelle, Iris and Felix Pritchard, Blake and Grace Belbin; two sisters Lucy Furlong and Agnes Laplante. The family gratefully acknowledges the caring support of Anne O'Kane, Dr. Mary Manno and staff, the Red Cross Care Partners, CCAC and the staff of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
