www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, August 9, 2013 | 12 King's Community Church bids farewell to pastor After 26 years of pastoral ministry in Oakville, Ross Macdonald and his wife Pat are leaving for life in Switzerland. Congregation members will bid them farewell as Macdonald leaves to serve as Lead Pastor at Westlake Church in Nyon, Switzerland. Macdonald began his ministry in 1987 becoming the first youth pastor for Chartwell Baptist Church. Right from the beginning, Macdonald's motto was get involved in and serve your community, which he did through coaching high school sports, being on high school campuses as a counsellor to many students and driving along with police officers to help as needed. In 1993, Macdonald became the campus pastor for the Chartwell Baptist Church site that began meeting in Oakville Trafalgar High School. He continued his involvement in the larger community, particularly as the leader of what was then the Oakville Ministerial Association. He became involved with the Vintage Seniors Groups from Chartwell, a commitment he has continued to this day. The pastor was a regular volunteer at the Syl Apps Youth Centre as well. When Macdonald heard a new Christian school was being built in north Oakville -- King's Christian Collegiate -- he saw a great opportunity to plant a new site. In January 2002, Chartwell King's was launched with Macdonald as the lead pastor of a group of 50 people. This church was later renamed King's Community Church and is currently serving a church family of more than 150 people. Despite the pastoral call of duty that was a part of Macdonald's life, he was devoted to his family. He and his wife Pat arrived in Oakville as a young married couple, where Pat became a part of a dental practice. Together they raised their sons, Gregory and Jordan, and cared for Macdonalds' parents for many of those years. The network of people that Ross is related to, knows, has worked with, studied with, or is connected to, is vast and his presence in Oakville will be greatly missed. Ross and Pat Macdonald King's Community Church is inviting the community to share with its members in honouring and thanking the Macdonald for their contribution to the life of their church and the community of Oakville with a stand up reception at King's Christian Collegiate (Neyagawa Boulevard and Burnhamthorpe Road) Sunday, Aug. 11 from 2-5 p.m. Everyone is welcome. -- submitted by Paul Mittelstaedt, King's Community Church European Engineering Combined With Traditional Workmanship "Building on the Brightest Ideas Around Glass" 905.849.0266 celebration GraNd OpENiNg GraNd OpENiNg 96" Sofa NOW OpEN in pickering All Stores are Joining the Celebrations! $ 727 YOU SAVE $182 99 5 piece Living Room includes Sofa, Loveseat, Cocktail Table & 2 End Tables $ YOU SAVE $578 231196 King Sleigh Bed includes Headboard, Footboard & Rails includes King Bed, Dresser & Mirror 5 piece Bedroom King Sleigh Bed 5 piece Bedroom $ YOU SAVE $324 1295 97 $ YOU SAVE $804 3215 96 $ includes Headboard, Footboard & Rails includes King Bed, Dresser & Mirror YOU SAVE $329 1303 97 $ YOU SAVE $706 282395 $ Shopping Spree Mississauga Stoney Creek Woodbridge 5000 enter to win 24 EqUAL MONTHLy pAyMENTS NO iNTEREST* 5 piece Dining Room $ includes 70" to 88" rectangular extension table and 4 chairs.
