Oakville dart league seeking new players The Oakville Pub Dart League is welcoming new players of all abilities as it prepares to begin its 17th season this fall. The OPDL currently features 11 teams playing out of several different bars in town. Last season, host venues for the league included Grey Friars, Oakville Legion, Bronte Legion, Palermo's, Abbey Arms, Pic-ADeli, Less Than Level and Shakers. The league schedule begins in September and features games every Tuesday, beginning at 8 p.m. Each evening begins with a five-game individual cricket game (using only numbers 15-20), followed by four games of doubles 501 (first team to get to zero from 501), five games of singles 301 (first player to get to zero from 301), four games of doubles cricket and five games of singles 501. Each win counts towards the total wins of the night and is worth a point. Whichever team earns the most of the 23 points available is awarded two points in the standings, while the losing team is awarded one point in the standings as long as it earns at least eight points on the evening. Approximately 120 players participated last season, ranging in occupation from students to nurses and firefighters to managers. The minimum age to play is 19, since games are played in licensed venues. The cost for a full season is $50 per player. Host venues also sponsor the league.
