What began as a few flowers in 2011, blossomed into tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, and herbs -- in a terrace garden for all the residents to enjoy. Robitaille, who is legally blind, tends for the plants himself with the assistance of other residents and Life Enrichment Supervisor Kim Dennis, pictured above right. Robitaille, who carries his gardening tool belt on his wheelchair (at right) has silver pin-status in the residence, which recognizes his more than 800 volunteer hours. He also tends to the indoor plants and helps deliver mail and newspapers to residents. Last year, the garden produce provided the fixings for a spaghetti dinner for residents. "If there are enough ripe tomatoes left," laughed Dennis. "Some of the residents can't help themselves and eat them right off the plants." Protect your family. Prepare for their future.
