DODD, William John 1944-2013 After a courageous journey, his loving family shares the sad news of Bill's passing on August 2, 2013. The youngest son of George (deceased) and Jean Dodd (McCallum) was born in Fort Erie, Ontario. Bill was the beloved husband and dearest friend of Lisa (Elspeth) Dodd; loving father of Matthew (Kathleen), and Anna and proud grandfather of Alice. Cherished brother to Jim (Suzanne) and Betty Dodd. Brother-in-law to Cathy (Barry) Pappin and Leslie (Alan) Nickell, and favourite uncle and cousin to many. The extensive family in Southwestern Ontario, where his ancestors have had roots for more than seven generations, join friends from Oakville and Burlington in mourning Bill's passing. A life long Rotarian, Bill was guided by his belief in the importance of "service above self". That belief, along with the examples set by his family of the importance to always care for others, shaped the man, how he led his life with his family, in business and in his extensive community work. The family wishes to extend thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, in particular the Bone Marrow Transplant Team. A memorial service will be held at St. John's United Church, 262 Randall Street, Oakville, ON Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar Foundation Inc. or the Princess Margaret Bone Marrow Transplant Program would be appreciated by the family.
