Tom was a loving partner to Dianne, beloved father and grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and best friend of Sean, all of whom will miss him deeply. Born in Carmarthen, Wales in 1935 Tom came to Canada in the 1950's. He served as a police officer with Halton Regional Police until 1994 when he retired and then 10 years as provincial prosecutor. Tom loved the sun and the water and in earlier days when he was active, you would see him cycling throughout Oakville several times a week. The family extends their appreciation to Dr. Jamal, Yolanda, Sonja and Cheryl and the nursing team on 4E for their exceptional care. Dianne would also like to extend her heartfelt thanks to family and friends who stopped by to visit with Tom during his final days. A private family service was held at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home. TORRANCE, Robert Sutherland Bob lived life the way he wanted and he lived it to the fullest, passing away suddenly at the age of 94, on Sunday, August 18, 2013. Pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth he leaves behind his children David (Peggy), Mary and Fr. John, his grandchildren Katie and Michael (Vanessa), and his greatgrandchildren Launa and Teagan. Bob was born and raised in England and started his working-life at Vickers-Armstrong in Barrow-inFurness. After WWII he immigrated to Hong Kong where he met, and married, Betty. They immigrated to Canada in 1954 and after stops in Montreal, Halifax, St. Johns and Ottawa they finally settled in Oakville to raise their family. An extremely creative and intelligent man, he made a significant impact on the many people he interacted with especially in his working life with the Canadian Coast Guard and Transport Canada.
