Funds raised at the Aug. 14 ride, as well as other activities, will go towards helping more Oakville youngsters have the chance to experience summer camp. Held at the Peter Gilgan Family YMCA, 11 teams comprised of staff, volunteers and community partners, rode a stationary bike in six-minute intervals during the one-hour event. Participants were encouraged to take up the five-in-five challenge by donating $5 to ride for five minutes. The annual Camp Family Night took place on the same day with many summer camp activities including face painting, campfire cooking, games, a family movie under the stars and a free barbecue. All proceeds went to the YMCA Strong Kids campaign. Halton police are investigating following a break-in to a home on Springwood Crescent earlier this week.
