The Angels won all four of their games at provincials by a combined score of 45-10. Before the romp over Mississauga North, the Angels beat Brantford 11-3, Halton 10-4 and Brampton Gold 11-1. Oakville's torrid attack at provincials continued a trend that began a couple of months ago, following a subpar showing at a tournament in the U.S. The Angels won their last 11 games of the campaign by an average score of 15-2, and nine of those contests came against teams they faced at the allOntario championships. "The girls just rallied around each other," coach Ian Allingham said. "They haven't scored less than 10 runs in I don't know how many games." Jessica Hartley, Lauren Greco and Tori Allingham handled the bulk of the pitching chores for Oakville at provincials. Ashley Taciuk, Kelly Hubbs, Lauren Beattie, Lisa Papara, Meghan Conn, Molly Edge, Sydney Lee and Thea Milanetti also contributed to the Angels' sixth title of the year. Oakville won the Peel Halton league championship and the provincial qualifiers while adding tournament wins in Brantford, Waterloo and Mississauga. Ian Allingham was assisted by Bryan Beattie, Tim Hartley and Vicki Allingham. Nancy Hubbs was the manager, Alison Greco was the trainer, Radu Papara was equipment manager and Jennifer Conn was score keeper. "The girls were doing it on their own. They even called their own pitches," Allingham said. "They have really developed into being much more self-reliant. It was quite the ride (for the coaches), we were almost like passengers just watching. They were just playing so well together." The Oakville Angels outscored their opposition 45-10 to win squirt A Division gold at the recent Ontario girls' fastpitch championships in Cobourg. | photo submitted OMBA ball teams at provincials this weekend A pair of Oakville Minor Baseball Association rep teams will represent the Central Ontario Baseball Association at provincial championship tournaments this weekend after winning recent tournaments. Josh Cipolla had a home run and a triple to lead the A's offence. Starting pitcher Graydon Stauffer went five strong innings while reliever Ryan Matsuba held off a late rally to preserve the win. "We have a great group of players and we had three goals when we started the season," said coach Kevin Kruse, whose team went 37-10 in 2013. "To win our loop, to win the Central Ontario championship and to win provincials and bring the trophy back to Oakville."
