Oakville humane society Mutt Strutt Sunday The Oakville & Milton Humane Society's (OMHS) annual Mutt Strutt will take place on Sunday (Sept. 8) at Cornwall Road Park. The five-kilometre strutt through old Oakville and a half-kilometre stroll around the park begins at noon. Pledge forms are available at the shelter or at pet supply stores and veterinary clinics throughout Oakville -- participants can also set up their own online pledge form by going to www.omhs.ca. The community is encouraged to walk in the Oakville Mutt Strutt with or without a pet and there are prizes for top walkers and top teams. The annual Fall Fair, held after the strutt and stroll, features dog agility demonstrations, a fun pet show, silent auction, expanded vendor marketplace and a large Kids Zone featuring a giant Beagle Belly bouncer, carnival games, crafts and face painting. Organizers hope to raise $35,000 at this year's edition of the strutt. The Oakville & Milton Humane Society receives no government funding or funding from any other animal welfare organization to investigate and prosecute animal abuse, cruelty and neglect; to care for and find loving forever homes for the homeless pets of the community; to bring the unconditional acceptance of a therapy pet to the elderly and those in long term care facilities; and to teach lessons of respect, responsibility and compassion towards all living things to the children of Oakville. Proceeds from the Oakville Mutt Strutt & Fall Fair will support a variety of OMHS programs and initiatives.
