Many of the activities at the Oakville open house play off this theme. "Cooking is the number one cause of house fires and a significant contributor to fire-related deaths and burns," said Michael Harrison, Oakville Fire Department public education officer. "Knowing how to practice safe cooking habits is a fundamental step in fire prevention." In addition to the fire safety presentations, other activities will include inflatable air rides, a smoke room simulator and fire safety games. Those who attend will enjoy a free lunch courtesy of Darlene Bryans, owner of McDonald's restaurants in Oakville. Attendees can also bring a refillable bottle to enjoy fresh and free water from the water bar. Parking at the training campus is reserved for those with limited mobility or medical conditions. Free parking and a shuttle service will be provided at the Bronte GO Station.
