The approximately 73,000 square-foot centre will be built at the northwest corner of the planned extension of Third Line and the proposed Burnhampthorpe Road West, across from the new hospital. ErinoakKids assists children and youths with physical, development and communicative disabilities to achieve levels of independence, learning, health and well-being. "This is indeed a banner day for ErinoakKids and one we have been waiting for a very, very long time," said Bridget Fewtrell, ErinoakKids president and CEO, during the announcement event at the Oakville Conference Centre. "(This) will not only change the future of ErinoakKids, but much more critically for the almost 14,000 children and families we serve annually, and for the hundreds of thousands of families and children we will have the privilege of serving from newlypurposed facilities over the coming years and decades." Onhand for the news were Andrea Schindhelm and her daughter Karissa, seen here blowing kisses. | photo by Chantal Ayotte ­ Oakville Beaver (Follow on Twitter @halton_photog) A woman, described as being in her 70s, was taken to Hamilton General Hospital after being struck by a car in the area of Upper Middle Road and Grand Oak Trail Wednesday morning. Halton police said the car collided with the pedestrian at around 7:45 a.m. Bystanders at the scene reported the senior was bleeding from the head, but conscious, when the ambulance arrived. As of press time, the extent of the woman's injuries were unknown. No charges had been laid. Police are continuing to investigate this accident. Upper Middle Road was closed from Bronte Road to Grand Oak Trail yesterday morning as the investigation continued.
