Reinders signs with Tiger-Cats It did not take the Hamilton Tiger-Cats long to pounce on Oakville offensive lineman Joel Reinders. Hamilton signed six-foot-eight, 312-pound Reinders to its practice roster last Thursday, a day after he was released by the Toronto Argonauts. Reinders, a graduate of King's Christian Collegiate, was Toronto's fourth-round selection in the 2010 CFL Draft. He had NFL stints with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants before signing with the Argos last summer. "Sarah shot the ball really well, and Emily was just smart. It's tough to replace those girls," Pauletto said. "But Kiana and Stephanie have worked hard and picked up the pace. And Jaelyn is better than last year. She can shoot the ball much better than last year." Veteran Alex Ruscica rounds out the starting five, providing a strong interior presence. Unlike last year, when the team started the season with just seven players on its roster, Loyola features a deep bench. This season's club features so many players -- 13 -- that three were without matching uniforms for Tuesday's contest. One final difference between this season and the past few is the road that Loyola will have to travel to qualify for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championships. The past three years, the Hawks have been a quadA school and losses to Hamilton powerhouses like St. Thomas More prevented them from advancing to provincials. This season, Loyola is a triple-A school, making Hamilton's St. Mary its biggest obstacle between Halton and OFSAA. Not that Pauletto is interested in looking too far ahead. "We had a tough game today and a tough game against Nelson last week (a 10-point win)," he said. "There are good quality teams in Halton. You have to take care of the teams in your league or you won't get to (playdowns). If we stumble, we won't get that far."
