Fire victim identified as Oakville man The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed Monday the body discovered following a cottage fire, which occurred near Peterborough, Ont. on Oct. 1, is that of Oakville resident Pierre Girard. Girard, 53, was visiting the family cottage in Selwyn Township with the family's chocolate Labrador retriever, Charlie, when fire broke out at around 8:20 a.m. OPP Const. Bruce Hanna said the cottage was fully engulfed in flames when police arrived. The remains of a man and a dog were found lying together in the ruins of the cabin. Members of the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit are working with the Ontario Fire Marshal's office in the ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the fire, however, foul play is not suspected. inside today's Editorial Sports Beaver www.insideHALTON.com 3 | Wednesday, October 9, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com 6 18 Artscene Classified 16 20 Globo, Inerjit Grewal/Swaraj Pa, Real Estate, National Sports, Sport Chek, Bouclair, *All flyers not necessarily delivered to all homes For home delivery & customer service call 905-631-6095, 5300 Harvester Rd., Burlington New subscriptions call 905-631-6095 or subscribe online @ www.oakvillebeaver.com Woman disoriented following attack continued from p.1 Halton police said the woman was disoriented and unable to indicate she had been attacked.
