Bullying and health among topics at parent conference The Halton District School Board's Parent Involvement Committee will host a free, oneday conference on Saturday, Oct. 19 at M.M. Robinson High School, highlighted by keynote speaker Michael Reist. Reist will be discussing raising emotionally healthy children at the conference, which runs from 8 a.m.-2:15 p.m. at the 2425 Upper Middle Rd. school. Other workshops at the event will include equity and diversity, bullying and safe and inclusive schools, and health awareness. Best-selling author Reist wrote the Canadian best-selling books Raising Boys in a New Kind of World and The Dysfunctional School: Uncomfortable Truths and Awkward Insights on School, Learning and Teaching. His published articles tackle topics ranging from books, movies and popular culture to parenting, education and spirituality. "We're very excited about the upcoming conference, as it provides us with an important opportunity to engage our parents so they can better support the development and education of their children," said Rob Eatough, superintendent of education.
