Moved by Regional Chair Gary Carr and seconded by Regional Councillor Blair Lancaster, the motion was passed at the Oct. 23 council meeting. "Our police services, tireless community partners like Halton Women's Place and residents work very hard to make Halton a safe community for everyone," said Carr. "Violence has no place in Halton. It has no place in society. It serves no purpose other than to destroy the character of individuals, groups and communities." As organizational partners with the Halton Violence Prevention Council, Carr and Halton Regional Police Chief Stephen Tanner will mark the start of November as Women's Abuse Prevention Month with a public banner-raising on Monday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. at Halton Regional Centre (1151 Regional Road) in Oakville. A snow windrow is the pile of snow that accumulates at the end of driveways during road plowing, which can be difficult for seniors and individuals with health problems or disabilities to remove. The town has developed a program to assist these individuals with a windrow clearing program that runs from December 1 through to March 31.
