- Clifford Samuel Jamieson was the foreman at Trail Farm. The farm was owned by Major-General W.H. Greenly, a primarily absent owner residing on his estate in the UK. As per the note below, we know Greenly owned the land as early as 1921. He had purchased it from the Inglehart family.
Clifford Jamieson married Lyda Roba Dorsey. At some point they moved to Trail Farm from Kettleby, Ontario. Their children were from oldest to youngest: Harold, Merle, Gordon, Ruth, and Mildred. Mildred was born at Trail Farm and the children attended Palermo Public School (S.S. #2). Mildred was the only child still living at home when her parents left the farm and moved to Bronte.
Trail Farm was sold by Major-General Greenly in 1940 to Harold Cooper, a dairy farmer. In 1965, the land was sold to Ed Liptay who built the Richview Golf and Country Club. The land was later sold to the Monarch development company and today is a huge housing development.
The date of this fire is thought to have been about 1935. - Notes
- A list of the honourary members of the (London, England) Royal Geographical Society as at September 30, 1921 includes in its list, "Greenly, Major-Gen. Walter Howorth, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O. Titley Court, Herefordshire ; and Trail Farm, Palermo, Ontario."
