All her life, she was an example to her family of what hard work and determination could accomplish. She became a Registered Nurse at 19 and enjoyed a long career in hospital and industrial settings. She also worked as a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, The Cross Cancer Institute and St. John's Ambulance in Edmonton, and numerous others, including the Sir John Colborne Seniors Recreation Centre in Oakville. She made a point of visiting the sick in hospital, just to bring some cheer, until she herself became too ill to continue. She is pre-deceased by her son Robert. She leaves her beloved daughters, Kate and Maureen, son-in-law Robert Baker, her favourite grandchildren, Paul and Leigh, her dear sister Stella, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who held her in high regard.
