Challenge a boost made "an extraordinary commitment to kindness" towards animals. "In founding and funding the P .A.T.C.H. Challenge, Mr. Apa is changing the future of animal welfare, ensuring the next generation will be more compassionate, caring and kinder than the one before," said the release. "These are the same qualities his little black and white dog, Patch, embodied every day. The Oakville & Milton Humane Society is very grateful to Mr. Apa for his ongoing support of this important program." For information about the P .A.T.C.H. Challenge, visit www.omhs.ca. The Oakville & Milton Humane Society (OMHS) recently received a $6,150 boost from Frank Apa, president of Oakville Toyota Scion and Lexus of Oakville. The donation was collected during an event held at both dealerships, where a portion from each vehicle sold went towards the animal shelter. The event is held as part of Apa's P .A.T.C.H. (People and Animals Together Create Harmony) Challenge, named after his late dog Patch. The beloved Shih Tzu died in August 2002 and Apa dedicated that month to his beloved dog in an effort to help change the future of homeless, abused and neglected animals in the community. "To have a local business person make such an incredible, long-term commitment to a local charity is rare" Kim Millan, OMHS executive director, said in a news release. "To create and fund an important program like the P .A.T.C.H. Challenge is even more rare and we are so very grateful for his continued generosity." Apa has worked with the OMHS to develop the education program promoting the human/animal bond and teaching lessons of compassion, respect and responsibility for all living things to the children in the community. Since its inception, the PATCH Challenge has raised more than $110,000 towards OMHS, which included the gift of a van speciallymarked with the P .A.T.C.H. message and helps take the challenge to Oakville and Milton students. Each year, at the OMHS Friends of Society social, Apa presents a P .A.T.C.H. award to a child who has Nov 2 | Visitor Centre Join us for food & refreshments, meet our staff, check out some features & equipment Get your passes!
