www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, October 31, 2013 | 24 OMTH Candlelight Ball to help equip new hospital The Oakville Hospital Foundation's 22nd annual Candlelight Ball is Saturday (Nov. 2) and organizers are hoping to raise $750,000. Proceeds from this year's event will support the equipment campaign for the new Oakville hospital -- specifically the purchase of an echocardiography machine for cardiorespiratory patients. "The machine uses ultrasound probes that enable three-dimensional images using less-invasive technology," said Suzanne Hallsworth, community giving and communications director for the Oakville Hospital Foundation. "With more than 30,000 pieces of new equipment needed by opening day in December 2015, our need is great." The black-and-white-themed event, sponsored by Barrington's Fine Outerwear and Murron's Cabinetree, will take place at the Burlington Convention Centre, 1120 Burloak Dr. It will feature a culinary experience by celebrity chef Michael Bonacini, of Oliver & Bonacini restaurants, and his chef team, Matthew Foote (Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill) and Jamie Meireles (Oliver & Bonacini events). For the fifth year in a row, guests will be treated to a multi-course menu created exclusively for the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) Candlelight Ball. The evening will also include contests and live auctions for a 2013 Lexus CT 200h hybrid, donated by Lexus of Oakville, and an ultimate dream kitchen and spa bathroom, both items donated by Khachi Design Group. Those unable to attend still have an opportunity to place a proxy bid by visiting www. otmhcandlelightball.com or calling 905-3384642. In addition, the annual Cause within a Cause event returns -- a reverse auction, which can raise tens of thousands of dollars in minutes. Of the total goal, the Cause within a Cause event's goal is to raise $300,000, which will go to purchasing the echocardiography machine. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and appetizers being served, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and live music and dancing starting at 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $550 per person, $5,500 for an individual table or $6,500 for a corporate table.
