www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Wednesday, November 20, 2013 | 10 OMHS hopes rescued felines will find special families continued from p.1 at a time," said Andrea Barker, animal care manager. "Because of their history, some may be more timid than the average cat and all will need longer than usual to settle in to a new home." The OMHS is looking for families for what it calls "special cats." Special viewing days and times will mean people who feel like they may be a good fit can meet the cats and apply to adopt them. The adoption dates for the rescued cats are: Saturday (Nov. 23), Sunday (Nov. 24), Saturday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 1 from noon to 5 p.m. As more of the cats recover from illnesses and surgeries, additional dates will be announced. The adoption fee for adult cats is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, all vaccines, microchipping, six weeks of free pet insurance and a small bag of Hills Science Diet food. "It's our hope to have as many of the cats as possible in loving homes for the holidays" said Barker. On Sept. 5, the OMHS removed 107 live cats and 10 deceased cats from a house in Halton Hills after receiving an anonymous tip. Following an investigation, animal cruelty charges were laid.
