Sheridan unveils its future with brand new look by John Bkila Oakville Beaver Staff 5 | Wednesday, November 20, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Sheridan College has undergone a brand makeover complete with a new visual identity, website and the unveiling of a new outdoor art installation in Oakville, Friday (Nov. 15). The college community gathered late Friday afternoon at its Trafalgar Road campus outside the Sheridan Centre for Animation and Emerging Technologies building to celebrate the launch of its new identity on its road to becoming a university. "We're here to celebrate Sheridan, our new visual identity and all of you. You are the people who are collectively known as the Sheridan brand," said Jeff Zabudsky, Sheridan president and CEO. "At Sheridan, `Get Creative' is about making sure Sheridan stands for creativity, but creativity with a purpose." The rebranding officially launched Friday with a redesigned website, new branding on Trafalgar Road and building banners, digital road signs, Sheridan's tagline `Get Creative', a primary school colour of double blue and secondary orange colour, and the Sheridan wordmark in the shape of a capital `S'. "We're absolutely thrilled with our new visual identity. Our bold and iconic Sheridan `S', our new pattern and a return to our roots with the Sheridan double-blue," said Zabudsky. The `S' art installation was designed by Sheridan alum Pierre Poussin, who graduated from the school's craft and design program, specializing in furniture, in 2006. "It is a deep honour to be here today, unveiling the school's icon that will follow Sheridan into its evolution into a first-rate university," Poussin said. "I had the pleasure to study furniture design 10 years ago here, during my time and since graduation, Sheridan has provided me with the support, connections and the many opportunities to stay connected." see New on p.11 ARE YOU CONSIDERING AN EARLY RETIREMENT? It seems this is a problem that is increasing but it can be treated if caught before it is too late. The main issue if you feel you suffer from any form of tooth wear is protection and prevention. If your tooth wear has been diagnosed at an early stage you can concentrate on preventing further tooth wear with diet modification, protective dental appliances and some limited dental bonding to restore the small areas of attrition or erosion. If tooth wear has progressed to the point that your protective enamel has been worn away and you have exposed your inner dentin you will likely need a more comprehensive solution. The pictures included are an example of a patient with severe attrition, erosion and bite collapse that I solved with a full mouth rehabilitation using porcelain restorations.
