LHIN's Supports for Daily Living program recognized The Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) was recognized for helping seniors access the care they need at home in living a more independent life. On Nov. 21), the local LHIN's Supports for Daily Living program team was awarded the inaugural Minister's Medal Honouring Excellence in Health, Quality and Safety. The program provides community resources to seniors discharged from hospital, so they can recover at home rather than in a long-term care facility. "The Supports for Daily Living program has proven to be a pioneering force for our health system, changing the way we care for our seniors to help them live better at home," Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and LongTerm Care, said in news release. "Providing seniors with more timely access to healthcare in their homes and communities ensures our health-care system works better for everyone, improving access for all who need care, where they need it." I'm going to tell all my friends and they're going to become volunteers in the new hospital,'" said Rustom. "Where I work, it's just me on my shift. It's nice to meet people. You learn all sorts of things about people you never knew before." She noted if enough people attend, additional social gatherings will be organized in the future.
