Secondary roads such as Glenashton and Bridge roads were cleared next, followed by residential streets. "When we are pretty sure the snow has stopped falling, that is when we move into residentials and start residential plowing," said Covert. Residential streets are plowed only after snow accumulates in excess of 7.5 cm. A recent council decision made Monday as next year's budget was approved, lowered this threshold from 10 cm. When all streets require plowing, Town policy dictates, residential streets be cleared within 24 hours after the end of the storm. Heavy snowfalls or successive storms can sometimes extend this period longer than 24 hours. Residents interested in seeing the progress of the Town's snow removal crews can watch at www.oakville.ca/residents/snow-plowtracker.html. From left, motorists stopped to help get the driver of a pickup truck that became stuck in the snow on Raspberry Bush Trail. Oakville's Jim Chester scrapes the windshield of his car, admitting that he likes the snow. Resident Stan Bell hauled out a snowblower to clear the driveway of his Great Lakes Drive home. Winter arrived Saturday as residents awoke to find a snowy blast had already started. Blustery wind at times caused near-zero visibility around town. The snow continued and intensified throughout the day, leaving more than 30 centimetres in its wake by the time the storm had wrapped up Sunday. More snow fell Tuesday and more winter weather, including snow, is in the forecast for later this week. UP TO 427 SPEERS RD. UNIT #18 (905) 337-8338 QEW - Oakville South Service Rd. E. Trafalgar Rd.
