Players excited to expose Nicaraguans to new sport continued from p.32 tough and having some people there to cheer us on, rather than playing in an empty building, would be awesome," Young said. Brodie Merrill, the school's lacrosse director and a member of the National Lacrosse League's Philadelphia Wings, and other NLL players will be on hand to meet fans. While the main mission of the trip to Nicaragua will be to help build schools and support educational programs, the players also plan to introduce the students to lacrosse by taking along some equipment with them. Apers said people who don't play lacrosse in Canada are still familiar with the game, but in Nicaragua the Canadians will be introducing a completely new sport. "It will be so fresh for them," he said. "Hopefully it will bring a smile to their faces and bring some joy to their everyday activities." "You have the opportunity to play (in Canada)," Young added, "so it will be fun to go to a country where it's something they couldn't do without our help." For its world record attempt, the school does have sponsorship packages for businesses. Anyone wishing to get involved can contact The Hill Academy teacher Dan Noble at dan.noble@thehillacademy.com.
